The "1919" poem was a poem I originally wrote because I wanted something that captured my perception of how I viewed the nineteen-tens. Especially juxtaposed to how we think about politics as individuals now. Being a German speaker, and seeing how Germany caught the ultimate blame and brunt of the results of conflicts which emerged from the tensions in Europe during the time period, I made this project in an ode to progress and out of love for my Germanic heritage. The sheet music was written out of love for the art of sheet music and an homage to progressive styles of writing sheet music, as well as being experimental in nature. I wanted a series of scores to be emblematic to the process of warfare and how the everyday soldier is followed around with these horrors of war.Â
